Gwangju Cambodian Chaul Chunam Themey Festival
Choul Chnam Themey, the Cambodian New Year (Khmer: បុណ្យចូលឆ្នាំថ្មី) is one of the biggest holidays in Cambodia. Choul means 'enter' and Chnam means 'New Year' which literally means 'entering the new year'. The holiday lasts for three days which usually falls on April 13th or 14th, at the end of the harvesting season as well as just before the beginning of the rainy season.
The celebration of this festival takes place in Gwangju every year. It is organized by Gwangju Cambodian Community for the cultural exchange and harmony within the local community. Cambodian workers, migrant Cambodian women and their Korean families, Korean volunteers will join for the celebration.
