Now, a Flower on the Head  Now, 머리에 꽃을 (4:40 p.m. , 11/24)

The Hippie Movement was one of the most beautiful cultural revolutions in the history of mankind as well as a failed revolution. The generation that fell in love with the psychedelic rock music which appeared on the popular music scene in Korea around 1970 was Korean first generation of hippies, and they showed exactly how music can affect the lives of people. Recently, youth has taken to this music. How is this music affecting their lives?

 

 

Sea of Butterfly 나비와 바다 (4:30 p.m. 11/25)

After an 8-year relationship, Jae-nyeon and Woo-young decide to get married. Though similar brain lesions define them, the pair must confront and resolve marital issues identical to any other couple. But they are different, in fact. Woo-young is under enormous pressure stemming from his age—40—and his father’s death. In his haste to get married, Wooyoung makes several public proposals. They make Jae-nyeon’s heart flutter at first, but soon grow into a burden. She gets confused about what to do and suffocated by marriage’s patriarchal nature—not helped by her future mother-in-law’s patronizing attitude.

 

Yongsan 용산 (6:30 p.m. , 11/25)

n January 2009, in the midst of forced evictions brought with the redevelopment of the Yongsan district of Seoul, five people died in a fire caused by a conflict with police. Memories of these victims of military rule and democratization movements, as well as those they left behind, untie a history of people’s movements.

 

My Father’s House 모래 (3:30 p.m. , 11/25)

A patriarch father and a devout Christian mother who is devoted to her children’s private education live at Eunma Apartment in Daechi-dong, Gangnam. Their daughter, who is also the director, labels herself a “Gangnam leftist” as if betraying her parents and starts making documentations. We face the present state of Korea through the complicated life of a family.

 

The Time of Lovelessness 사랑할  없는 시간 (4:30 p.m. , 11/25)

Kim Hun is an officer who died at the JSA in 1998. Not even The Presidential Truth Commission on Suspicious Deaths was able to determine the cause of his death and the director brings it up once again. The film emphasizes the meaning of fighting for the truth in the Korean modern society.

 

 

<The World through the Animation > (11:00 a.m. , 11/27)

 

1) Pochachichai 포차치차이

Here are aliens settled on earth and barely make a living with social discrimination. Hero 'Pochachichai' is also one of these aliens. He always carries a magic marker pen and asks people to draw his face. Because aliens could become humans when earthlings draw their faces, however, which is against the law. After some hardships, Pachachichai meets a person who is willing to draw his face and he starts his new life as a human.

 

2) TOTO 토토 (11/27)

Toto is a boy who can see the image through the word. Other people cannot understand him and even don’t try to understand him. So Toto is going to be alone....

 

3) Doves Do Not Fly 비둘기는 날지 않는다

The world changes making life harder each and every single day. Doves, that used to fly in the sky as a symbol of peace, live their lives trying to adjust themselves to the rapidly changing world. Doolgi, the main character, already forgot it was a dove and prefers walking to flying. It meets Kkokko, a hen who has a dream of becoming a fried chicken to live its full life as a chicken.

 

<Short Films Section> (2:40 p.m., 11/27)

 

1) A Death in May 오월의  (11/27)

JinYoung, a 30 year old filmmaker want to be, works part-time making PR video for his living. His father all of a sudden dies when things do not go as JinYoung thinks, and he had to take on a lot of debt instead of his father. Hard attitude of moneylenders makes JinYoung to give up his father’s inheritance by refusal of succession. However, as he undergoes the process, he finds out uncomfortable truth about his father’s death.

 

2) Thank you 감사합니다 (11/27)

Soyun works at an adoption institution. She calls up the online store’s customer center where she bought a dress for her daughter for a refund because the color of the actual dress is totally different from what she saw on the website. However, the request for a refund is rejected. And a phone call comes in right after. A middle-age woman is on the other side of the phone call asking Soyun to take the adopted child back. Soyun, in order to prevent the cancellation of adoption, visits Daein’s house and at the same time she gets into an argument with the internet shopping mall regarding the refund.

 

3) Between You and Me 사랑과 우정 사이 (11/27)

There are two men, best friends since childhood. One of them suddenly comes out, and, to help him get over a painful breakup, the two go on a trip together. Once on the road, they meet a woman, and subtle tension builds between the two friends as unforeseen incidents follow.
