Memories of Daechuri 대추리에 살다 (11/25)

In May 2006, the Ministry of Defense enforces a "move out" of Daechuri in order to make room for the expanding U.S. base. 'Protectors' who support the residents fighting against the action move into the village to help protect it. People who have lived different lives gather in the same space and try to build a new community in Daechuri. As the villagers make up their mind to move, they experience another kind of separation. The faces of so many people who strived to protect the community they dreamed of are reflected on the backs of those who set off for a new place to live their lives. A Lamp in the Darkness 어둠 속의 등불 (11/25)

Meeting with "Stop Crackdown", a migrant workers band whose mission is to let the world know the sufferings of immigrants who come to live in countries far away from home.

At Stake: Funding for Children 위태로운 : 중국인 묘지 (11/27)

This film reveals the notorious sex trade in the Chinese cemetery located in Mount Bolo, eastern Java. The extremely poor women in this area break rocks during the day and sell their bodies at 10,000 rupees (about 1 US dollar) at night for their families. Even the ‘kiwirs,’ the local name for pimps, sponge off these women.

Cruel Season 잔인한 계절 (11/27)

The film focuses on the lives of rubbish collectors. Working from 11 in the evening till mid-day, their aim is not to leave traces but to clean those that people leave behind. Although they call themselves as raccoons, who scavenge though piles of rubbish, their stories are not so different from ours. A mother who chose the job so she could spend time with her child during daytime; a son who couldn’t stay by his mother’s deathbed from working several shifts; a father who argues constantly because of no financial aid policy. Rubbish collectors are not the cleaners looked down upon by society, but rather a representation of our lives. The movie features interviews and narrations of 7 rubbish collectors, which introduces the audience to their private lives as same as ours and their experiences of an unfair social system. In some ways, their positive attitude to endure the struggles they face is something we must respect and uphold in our own lives.

Meat the Truth 고기에 대한 불편한 진실 (11/25)

Meat the Truth is a high-profile documentary which forms an addendum to earlier films on climate change. Although such films have succeeded in drawing public attention to the issue of global warming, they have repeatedly ignored one of the most important causes of climate change: the intensive livestock production. Meat the Truth draws attention to this by demonstrating that livestock farming generates more greenhouse gas emissions worldwide than all cars, lorries, trains, boats and planes added together.

The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls (11/26)

“The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls” is the first time that the irrepressible Kiwi entertainment double act, Jools and Lynda Topp’s extraordinary personal story has been told. The film offers a revealing look into the lives of the World’s only comedic, country singing, dancing, and yodeling lesbian twin sisters. As well as rarely seen archive footage and home movies, the film features a series of special interviews with some of the Topp’s infamous comedy alter-egos including candid chats with the two Kens, Camp Mother and Camp Leader, the Bowling Ladies and the Posh Socialite sisters, Prue and Dilly.
