The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in celebration of ‘The Korean-Southeast Asian Culture Ministers’ Meeting’, will host a concert of the Asia Traditional Orchestra on this coming 5th of September 2013 at the Gwangju Culture & Art Center.

Please join us with your attendance to experience the melody and gaiety of the Asian Music playing one harmony with diverse traditional instruments from Korea and South East Asia in the city of Asian Culture, Gwangju.

□ Performance summary

❍ Date/venue: Sept. 5, 2013 (Thur.), 8 p.m. / Main theatre, Gwangju Cultural & Arts Center

❍ Contents: This a performance of an ensemble of 54 traditional musical instruments and plays 10 pieces, including "I love ASEAN" and others inspired by traditional music from 10 Southeast Asian countries, in addition to "Gwangju Arirang."

□ Introduction of the Asia Traditional Orchestra

❍ The Asia Traditional Orchestra plays with 54 musical instruments which are unique to countries like Korea and 10 Southeast Asian (ASEAN) members (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.)

❍ The orchestra presented its historical and inaugural concert at the ASEAN-ROK special summit in 2009. They also presented its excellence during the UNESCO World Arts and Educational Conference in 2010 and a congratulatory concert at the Korean Liberation Day celebrations in 2011.
