Some schools have after-school English programs , English Camps, English clubs and other extracurricular programs. Teachers are not required to participate in those, but it is highly recommended that they conduct the programs if their school offers one (overtime paid, 20,000 won/hour). When they are not in class, teachers create teaching materials and prepare lesson plans.

Not only should they respect and understand Korean culture, teachers should share their own culture with students as representatives from their home country. Teachers must love children. The goal of GEPIK program is that students acquire English language naturally and improve English communication skills. So teachers should be friendly and encourage conversations. Classes should be fun and creative, and students should feel comfortable in. Lastly but most importantly, they should enjoy teaching and have fun because students cannot if teachers are not.

Teachers should commit minimum of one year at the same school. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, and there are 22 classes (40-50 min each) per week. Hours are usually 8:30am – 4:30pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm.
