GIC Talk는 다양한 주제의 강좌를 통해 지역민과 거주 외국인이 상호 문화를 이해하고 소통하기 위한 공개강좌입니다. 2003년 9월 시작된 이 프로그램은 통역 없이 영어로 진행되며, 문화, 역사, 정치, 예술 등 다양한 주제로 강의가 이루어집니다.

제목 : GIC 생태동아리; 채식주의 축제 (12:00~15:00)

연사 : 마이클 구난

채식주의와 채식주의 요리에 관한 GIC토크를 시작으로, 마이클 구난은 여러 가지 음식들로 테이블을 차릴 예정입니다. 각 자원 봉사자들은 그들의 음식과 음식의 국적, 그리고 그 나라의 전통에 있는 장소(있는 경우)를 설명하는 작은 포스터를 만들예정입니다. 각 테이블마다 손세정제가 제공되며 음식을 서빙하고 준비하는 사람들은 마스크를 필히 착용하여야 합니다.

제목 : 문화 다양성을 찾아서- 광주비빔영화제

연사 : 클로이 찬, 샤나와즈

광주지역 문화단체들은 다양한 보조금 지원사업을 통해 지역사회 문화발전을 지원하고 있습니다. 광주국제센터(GIC)가 운영하는 글로벌 커뮤니티 지원사업과 광주문화재단(GCF)이 지원하는 문화다양성 사업은 이를 통해 공동체 문화를 육성하기 위해 마련되었습니다. 그리고, 지역 및 국제 시민들이 협력 문화 활동에 참여할 수 있도록 후원하고 있습니다. 이번 토크에서는 앞으로 진행될 영화제를 지역사회 문화사업 사례 중 하나로 소개하고, 과거 광주 야외영화제 운영 경험을 공유할 예정입니다. 공동체 문화 프로젝트 시행은 어떤 가치가 있을까요? 광주에서 창의적인 프로젝트를 시작할 수 있을까요? 이 질문에 대한 해답을 드리고 싶습니다.

제목 : 검은 머리의 차이코프스키, 정추

연사 : 정지연

광주의 양림동에서 태어나 일본 대학을 졸업하고, 북한에서 활동하다 러시아로 유학 갔으나 카자흐스탄으로 추방되어 그 곳에서 눈을 감은 이가 있다. ‘검은 머리의 차이코프스키’ 라는 별명을 가진 작곡가 정추. 머나먼 타국에서 차세대 작곡가로 촉망받던 젊은 음악가는 어떻게 망명자가 되어 영영 고국으로 돌아오지 못했는가? 잘 알려지지 않은 작곡가로서의 그의 업적들은 어떤 것들이 있는가?

본 강연은 광주가 낳은 음악가이자, 또 광주에서 잊힌 음악가인, 격동의 한국근현대사에 휘말린 한 이민자의 인생을 재조명하고자 기획되었습니다.

The GIC Ecology Club Presents; Vegetarian Food Festival

Starting with GIC Talk on vegetarianism and vegetarian cooking, Michael Goonan is to have a few tables set up with different foods available. Each volunteer can make a small poster describing their food and where it is from, and what place (if any) it has in the country’s traditions. Hand sanitizer will be provided at each station and people serving food will be required to wear masks, both while serving the food and preparing in the food.

1 - 2:30 PM: Q&A, informal mingling, Food available for sampling

Title : In Search of Cultural Diversity – Community Film Fest Project in Gwangju

Speaker : Chloe Chan, Shah Nawaz Shan

Cultural organizations in Gwangju are supporting community cultural development through a range of grants. Global Community Support Project run by the Gwangju International Center (GIC), and cultural diversity projects supported by Gwangju Cultural Foundation (GCF) are designed to foster community culture through

sponsoring local and international citizens to take part in cooperating cultural activities. In this presentation, the speakers are going to introduce the upcoming film fest as one of the examples of community cultural projects, as well as to share the past experience of managing an outdoor film fest in Gwangju. What’s the value of conducting a community cultural project? Is it possible to launch a creative project in Gwangju? This talk will perhaps offer you some insights.

Title : The Black Haired Tchaikovsky, Jeong Chu (정추)

Speaker : Jeong Jiyeon

There is a man who was born in Yangnim-dong, Gwangju, graduated from a Japanese university, worked in North Korea, went to study in Russia, but was deported to Kazakhstan and closed his eyes there. JEONG Chu, nicknamed “Black-haired Tchaikovsky”. How did this young musician, who was promising as the next-generation composer from a distant foreign country, become an asylum and never return to his homeland? What are some of his achievements as a composer which is not well known to Korean?

This lecture is designed to shed light on the life of a musician born in Gwangju but forgotten in Gwangju, who was an immigrant liveda in the turbulent modern and contemporary Korean history.
